Lauren MacDonald (Mac)

Mac is the youngest (hippest, gayest) of the house engineers at Electrical Audio. She began drumming at 10, but started having staunch opinions on the live mixes at church when she was 8. By age 16 she found herself asking “What do all those knobs and faders do? Is a black tshirt required to use them?” (yes) - and here we are. She grew up in Rhode Island, the state, and came to Chicago in 2018 for college. During school she interned at several studios, including Electrical, where she learned lots of different techniques and philosophies for making records. After graduating Mac jumped right into working live sound at local venues, but continued honing her studio skills with a passion for analog consoles and a knack for ProTools. She is thrilled to be at Electrical Audio and take any opportunity thrown her way. When she’s not at Electrical, you can catch her mixing your favorite local bands at Beat Kitchen down the road. Ask Mac about the proper way to play tambourine, why she hates sports, or what it means to be a kick drum maximalist.
